Rehearsals

Rehearsals, held in the Bayfront Community Center at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, are open to the public. Open rehearsals offer the rare opportunity to sit in on rehearsals and learn how a performance comes together. Rehearsals are free of charge for series subscribers, faculty, and students. Daily rehearsal passes are available at the rehearsal hall during the festival for $20. Purchase a festival pass to all rehearsals for $80

Pre-Concert Talks

Hosted by Robert Sherman, our pre-concert talks are free and begin 45 minutes prior to each concert at the Opera House.

For more than 40 years, Robert Sherman was a music critic and columnist for The New York Times, and for nearly 20 served on the graduate faculty of The Juilliard School.

He says, “I've spent most of my life as a broadcaster, making friends I never get to see. Radio is great, but being face to face with the listeners is even greater. That's why I'm so excited about hosting lectures for La Musica: to be in the same room with the listeners, to be able to interact with them, to take their questions, hear their laughter when I bumble a name or phrase.”

La Musica is grateful to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, John J. Weiss Memorial Fund grant for making this website possible.
